Remedial Massage Treatment
Remedial massage is a form of deep tissue massage which is designed to treat a wide range of musculo-skeletal conditions including:
- back pain,
- neck and shoulder pain,
- repetitive strain injury,
- hamstring injuries,
- frozen shoulder,
- tennis elbow,
- whiplash,
- carpal tunnel syndrome,
- headaches and migraines,
- plantar fasciitis,
- muscle tension and muscle spasms.
Your first visit for a remedial massage will include a detailed consultation and assessment designed to find out the history and nature of the injury or problem. Treatments will involve deep massage and stretching techniques. The treatment area may feel tender indicating that the muscles and / or tendons are injured. Our experienced therapists will use your feedback to pinpoint the damaged tissue and will regulate the pressure within your comfort levels. Most clients will feel a difference after one session and will often see a significant improvement after 3 to 4 sessions. Recent injuries will recover much quicker than longer term conditions though and so results will depend on the severity of the injury and the length of time you have had it.
Remedial massage is not designed to be relaxing - it is for remediation of a mechanical problem. However, often all round health benefits are seen such as improved sleep, increased vitality and mobility and improved general well being. Following your treatment, our therapists will also offer advice and stretching programmes designed to promote and maintain good health and mobility.
